This Privacy Policy explains how UmdaLiv Technologies Inc. (“UmdaLiv”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use umdaliv.com and our products, including HalalNxt (the “Services”). This policy applies to our website, web app, and mobile applications (Android/iOS).

If you are looking for a quick summary: we collect only what we need to operate the Services (e.g., waitlist email, basic analytics, and in-app inputs like barcode scans or label images when you choose to use them). We do not sell personal information.

Information We Collect

1) Information you provide

Waitlist / early access: If you join our waitlist or request early access, we collect your email address (and any additional information you choose to share).
Support: If you contact us (e.g., by email), we may keep your message and contact details to respond.
User-submitted content in HalalNxt (optional): When you choose to submit information in the app (e.g., product label images, feedback, or restaurant notes), we collect what you submit.

2) Information collected automatically

Website usage data: Basic analytics about how visitors interact with the website (e.g., pages viewed, approximate device/browser information).
App and service usage data: Basic diagnostic and usage information (e.g., feature usage, performance, crash/error logs) to improve reliability.

3) Device permissions and sensor data (HalalNxt mobile apps)

HalalNxt may request access to certain device features only when needed to provide app functionality:

Camera: To scan barcodes and capture product label images (only when you choose to scan or upload).
Photos / storage (optional): To upload images you select from your device (e.g., ingredient labels).
Location (optional): To show nearby restaurants and improve local search results (if you grant permission). You can use some features without location by searching manually.

We do not continuously track your location in the background. You can control permissions in your device settings.

How We Use Your Information

Provide and operate the Services: enable app features (e.g., barcode lookup, label parsing, restaurant discovery), and respond to support requests.
Communications: send product updates, early access invitations, and service-related notices if you opt in (you may unsubscribe at any time).
Improve and secure the Services: debug issues, prevent abuse, and improve performance, accuracy, and user experience.
Compliance: comply with legal requirements and enforce our terms.

What We Share and When

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following limited cases:

Hosting / infrastructure: hosting, databases, storage, and security services used to run UmdaLiv and HalalNxt

Data Retention

Children

Our Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Unsubscribe: You can unsubscribe from emails using the link in any email.
Access / deletion: You may request access to or deletion of personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions.
Permissions: You can manage camera/photos/location permissions through your device settings.

International Users
